The skin around our eyes is one of the thinnest and most delicate areas of our skin, and because this area is the most mobile part of our face, wrinkles can develop there early on. In addition, irregular sleep and diet, fatigue, alcohol consumption, stress, and rapid weight loss can cause dark circles and a hollow appearance around the eyes. To improve the appearance in these conditions, mesotherapy can be performed in this area. Injections made into the skin in this area to address cosmetic concerns around the eyes are called periocular mesotherapy.
The main ingredient in mesotherapy products is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid gives the skin a vibrant, hydrated appearance. In addition, the minerals, succinic acid, various vitamins, enzymes, and coenzymes found in mesotherapy products help revitalize and hydrate the skin in this area and reduce wrinkles. It also helps improve circulation, reducing bruising and dark circles.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The area around the eyes is first numbed with an anesthetic cream. After the skin is properly cleansed, the product is injected using special needles. A single session takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Depending on the product used, it is performed as 1 to 3 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart. Repeat treatment every 4 to 6 months may be needed to maintain the effect.

Mesotherapy is an important medical procedure, not simply a basic cosmetic treatment. For this reason, we advise our patients to avoid having it performed by anyone who is not a doctor.
